THE ROAD TO WISDOM
Proverbs 4:11-12
I do not want to give young Christians the false impression that if you dedicate your life to God, He will immediately, clearly reveal His will on every little “step” or decision you make. There have been a number of things I thought God was telling me to do, but when I tried them, they failed.
When I look back at those failures, I see in hindsight that the unconscious “ego” often motivates and outweighs my conscious good intentions. Part of me is also lazy. I often want God to call me to the easiest possible lifestyle so I can blame my laziness on Him.

God clearly directs our moral paths and steps. The Bible tells us hundreds of rights and wrongs. But decisions like who to marry, what career to pursue, where to live, how many children to have – these are not moral decisions. God gives us a lot of authority in these decisions.
Our passage today tells us that if we emphasize walking with His wise principles (moral decisions), God will keep us from stumbling in our other decisions. Concentrating on our relationship with Him will indirectly lead us to handling our lives with His wisdom and perspective.
Meditation:
I will meditate on God’s principles, and make knowing Him and learning about Him my first priority in everything.
Prayer:
Lord, remind me to always acknowledge Your lordship over my life. Lead me, Lord.
